Striking English earthenware jardiniere, decorated in the Imari pattern, circa 1880. Cream-colored body with a scalloped top edge. The bottom two-thirds of the exterior is painted with primarily russet leaves, with some larger navy leaves and floral motifs interspersed around the circumference. The top is a segmented band of navy, with traditional Imari pattern motifs alternating. Gilt border and accents overall. Marked on the underside with a company name with is not legible, and "...Derby Ware, England".
All-over regular crazing to the glaze on both the interior and exterior. There is some wear to the gilt rim, and there lower portion of the exterior shows some flaking to the paint and gilding. There are three short, .75" hairlines that run down from the rim. Still has a decent clear ring when tapped, even though it is not porcelain. No structural issues, completely stable.
Measures 7.75" tall, just under 10.5" wide at the rim and 7" across at the base.
