hand-colored by ward and printed more than 150 years ago.
- This map has excellent
detail and shows railroads, horse-drawn streetcar lines, public buildings, and
other landmarks in the city.
- Railroads are identified with hatched
lines; streetcar
routes are shown with solid lines. There are no bridges yet across the Mississippi
River connecting the city with the Illinois shoreline.
- Specific named features include Lafayette Square, Arsenal
Island, Central Plank Road, Iron Mountain
Railroad, Merchants Exchange, St. Vincent Cemetery, Cass Avenue, Pacific
Railroad, Bloody Island, Washington Square, and Carondelet Road.

measures 35.7 x 28 cm [13¾" x
11"].
