Emu oil is oil that is rendered from the fat of the emu, a flightless bird native to Australia. Emu oil has been used for thousands of years by Australian Aborigines to help keep the skin healthy. Our emu oil is rendered from the fat at 160 deg F. During the refining process, the oil is taken to 480 deg F. This ensures there is zero probability of bacteria surviving and also creates a stable product. Different companies sell different levels of filtered/refined pure emu oil, and it is up to you to choose which type you like the most! The more refined the oil, the less odor and more cosmetically elegant it feels on skin and hair. Some people believe in using emu oil that is less refined, but it is up to your personal preference.
