Vintage Jade Fon Watercolor Painting
Description and Item Information
Up for sale is this vintage, framed, California watercolor painting by the listed artist, Jade Fon. Please excuse the glare in the photos. Depicted in this landscape is Lake Merritt in Oakland, California. There are geese in the foreground, sailboats on the lake, and tall buildings are in the background. The sight area within the mat borders is approximately 13 1/4 inches by 21 3/16 inches. The painting is nicely framed and matted under glass. The frame is white-painted wood with a gold-finished liner. The exterior frame dimensions are approximately 19 3/8 inches by 27 3/8 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 5 pounds 10.8 ounces. This would make a wonderful addition to a collection of fine art.
Identification
This vintage painting is by Jade Fon (Woo). The exact age is not known, since it is not dated. Fon (1911-1983) is listed on askART. Per askART, Fon was born in San Jose, California. He was raised in Winslow, Arizona. Fon attended the University of Arizona (Flagstaff) and the University of New Mexico. During the 1930s, he moved back to California to attend the Art Students League in Los Angeles. He exhibited with the California Watercolor Society; he also was a movie studio scenic artist, working on films such as Gone With the Wind. Fon lived in the San Francisco Bay Area from the mid-1940s onward. He taught at Diablo Valley College, and he worked as a commercial illustrator and nightclub entertainer. He founded a watercolor workshop which was located in Asilomar, California. Fon passed away in Bakersfield, California. He was a member of the Society of Western Artists and the American Watercolor Society.
Condition
This piece looks great overall, as shown. In my opinion, it is ready to hang and enjoy. The painting and the mat are in great condition. As done by the artist and as is original to the piece, there are some white areas in the sky which are unpainted. The frame has light wear, with a few small dark spots. Please review the photos, and ask any questions you may have prior to bidding or buying.

1. Payments
Taxes may be applicable. The correct shipping address must be included with payment. Contact the seller before bidding or buying to find out about acceptable payment methods for local pickups or deliveries. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made.
2. Shipping
Good packaging is included; double-boxing is not necessarily included. Framed art will not be shipped unframed. The seller usually ships on Mondays and Thursdays. The merchandise will normally be shipped on the seller's next shipping day after payment clears. The seller is not responsible for the transit time once the merchandise has been accepted by the shipping carrier.
Shipping includes delivery to a physical address via a method of the seller's choice. If the buyer prefers a different shipping method other than that chosen by the seller, or if delivery is to a post office box, additional shipping costs may be required. At the seller's discretion, a signature may be required for delivery.
Shipping quotes must be requested prior to all international bidding or buying. For international shipping, there may be parcel size restrictions or prohibitions on certain classes of merchandise. Customs forms will not be falsified.
