Contemporary full mottled calf leather binding. Spine has 5 raised bands with gilt title and decoration to compartments. Spine and board corners heavily worn with loss to leather. Joints cracked but both boards are securely held by cords. Front endpaper has owner's inscription (dated 1874), small paper label and two stamps (Franciscan Monastery, Crawley). Some inked notes to title page in contemporary hand. Title page soiled and with frayed margins (slight loss to final letter of 'Rationale'). Occasional light water staining to text. Damp staining to rear endpaper. Good solid page block with no loose pages. Latin text. Durand's important liturgical treatise of the origin and symbolism of Christian ritual, written in the 13th century and first published in 1459. Binding is worn but still a good usable 16th century example. Overall Condition is Good +
