'Equilibrium'

by Richard Young (R Young Art) - Professional Artist

I scan my original oil paintings using my Epson 12000XL professional graphics flatbed scanner and produce giclée prints using my Epson professional printers at a high definition 2880 x 1440 dpi, 98% pantone, using genuine Epson UV resistant 10 colour 100% pigmented inks guaranteed lightfast for 75 years on the highest quality media. Thus I use the very highest quality image to produce the very highest quality prints as follows:

Prints on Canvas:
These are produced using my professional Epson Sure Colour P9000 wide format printer on genuine Epson roll feed 350gsm heavyweight premium satin artists canvas. This canvas has a glossy surface and may be hung stretched without a frame, or framed with or without glass. If hung without glass, the canvas may be varnished for protection if preferred.

·         Prints with a 1cm (approx.) border are suitable for mounting on board and framing. The image size is 2cm (approx.) smaller than the media size in both height and width.

·         Prints with a 5cm (approx.) border are suitable for stretching and may be hung framed or unframed. The image size is 10cm (approx.) smaller than the media size in both height and width. The border is white. If a coloured or mirrored border is required, please let me know in a note when you place the order.

Prints on Paper:

These are suitable for mounting on board and framing behind glass for protection.

I can print at any specific custom size up to 112cm (44") on the shortest dimension. If a specific custom image size or border is required, purchase a media size that is larger in both height and width than the image size plus the border size required and let me know both the image size and the border size you require in a note when you place the order.

Each Fine Art Giclée Print is individually reproduced, QC examined and passed by myself to authenticate its origin and verify its quality. Print prices of all my artwork are uniform, depending only upon the size. All prints are supplied unframed. A2 sizes and below are shipped flat. Sizes above A2 are shipped rolled in a heavy wall postal tube.

I sign each print in permanent ink in either black, gold or silver as appropriate, placed within the artwork image itself at the lower right. Upon request, I can also write the artwork title at the lower centre.

My prints are a perfect gift for yourself or someone special, and are something much more individual and personal than a cheap poster or print of a photograph.

Be careful of poor quality prints from other sellers that use either low quality images, non-branded inks or non-branded media, as you will only be disappointed.

About the Artist - Richard Young

Biography:

I am a self-taught, full time professional Artist, born in Yorkshire, in 1961, and now based in Wokingham, Berkshire, UK where I have my office and studio.

Though I have always had a flair for art, I graduated in engineering in 1983 and with a passion to travel, I initially pursued a career as an engineering and design consultant, holding various managerial roles with international design consulting companies, residing primarily in the Middle East. Nevertheless, an artisan at heart, I returned to Commercial Art in 2003, initially as a semi-professional artist.

My engineering and project management background has certainly helped me in the technical, administrative, and organisational aspects of my art practice and there is also a noticeable influence in my composition and creativity.

I am an award-winning artist and have exhibited extensively throughout the UK and internationally.

Artist’s Statement:

I have extensively developed my own personal style and technique throughout my career, and I create all oil paintings entirely using a knife, often in a limited colour palette and mixing only on the canvas.

I define my artwork style as being contemporary realism and the technique I employ is a form of segmented alla prima, completed in three wet on wet layers during each painting session: The dark shadows and undertones, the mid tones and then the highlights and light glaze effects. For compositions having a high chiaroscuro effect, I complete the underpainting layer in a lean black paint allowing the sweeping knife application textures to remain and effect the main subject in the second layer which transition into the deep shadows in a drybrush technique by scraping back.

My figurative compositions are influenced and inspired by the realism and romanticism of my favourite post renaissance classical master’s and their timeless, romantic masterpieces. William Bouguereau in particular. They predominantly entail high contrast, dramatic lighting, and shading, as I simply adore light and am fascinated with its arguably undue influence on any subject. With the subjects, I aim to capture a carefully composed aloof anonymity in a moody atmosphere with the drama, passion, and emotion in a frozen realism, rather than characteristic individual representation of a traditional portrait.
