Die Darstellung zeigt von einer Anhöhe her die Stadt mit ihrer Stadtmauer, allen Kirchen und bedeutenden Gebäuden sowie der Brücke und dem Schloss auf der anderen Mainseite. Ergänzt wird die Ansicht durch eine Windrose und eine umfangreiche Legende mit 34 Einträgen. Von zwei Platten gedruckt und zusammengefügt. Aus der ersten Auflage der Topographia Germaniae, gedruckt 1642.
English description:
This is a very detailed and extremely decorative engraving which shows a large panoramic view of the city Würzburg with it's major buildings, churches, fortifications and the castle on the other bank of the Main river. The view is further enriched by a compass rose and a key that lists 34 important buildings. This genuine copper engraving was published by Matthäus Merian in 1642. It was printed from two plates, measures 24 x 64 cm (platesize) and is in good condition. It derives from: "Topographia Germaniae". first edition.
