Here we offer a scarce oversized Latin-language dissertation on spirituality: Oraculis Veterum Ethnicorum; which translates to: Ancient Pagan Oracles; written by Dutch Mennonite preacher, physician and author, Anton van Dale and published by Apud Henricum and Viduam Theodori Boom, in Amsterdam, in 1700. The book is a critique of pagan oracles, superstition, and witch-hunting. It features 7 (of 8) intriguing fold-out leaves of engravings by Romeyn de Hooghe. One plate is missing. It is bound in leather over dabbed marbled boards with marbled text block. It is a more recent binding.

Minor shelfwear to board edges (please see pics). Endpapers are clean and excellent. Minor foxing throughout. Hinges are excellent.  Binding is very tight and square.  Title page bears a "Harvard University library" blindstamp. One page has an edge tear that has been repaired with acid-free binder's tissue. Text and illustrations are very clean, bright, and crisp on very high-quality pulp.  A very readable volume! 694 pages, plus index.  Measures approximately 8.5 x 6.75-inches.

This very scarce treasure will make a wonderful centerpiece to your collection or a very thoughtful gift.
