Magnificent Art Nouveaurt Covered Jewelry box by the renowned house Paul Louchet of Paris, masterfully crafted in ivory color porcelain with gilt flower decoration in raised relief crafted, the rim band base is bronze. The lid cover features a romantic scene with two nude cherubs on a garden scene attributed to the sculptor Paul-Francois Berthoud (1870-1939) who contributed his work to Louchet on several occasions. 

This magnificent piece from the Art Nouveau Period was crafted in France c.1880-1890 and it is fully marked with the characteristic “Paris – Louchet – Ciseleur” gold medallion in raised relief. Paul Louchet (1854 - 1936) was a French painter & sculptor, best known for his Art Nouveau jewelry designs and crafts. Louchet worked with Emile Galle, Daum, Rene Lalique, and Argy Rousseau. His sculptures in gilt or enameled bronze are highly regarded and sought after, as well as his works on ceramics with gilt patina to look like Dore BronzeMeasures: 7 cm high by 16,5 cm diameter. An absolute most for collectors!

Paul Francois Louchet (1854-1936) worked together with Emile Galle, Daum, Rene Lalique, Argy Rousseau and other notable artists from the Art Nouveau period. He was awarded the Gold Medal at the 1900 Universal Exposition in Paris, as well as the Grand Prix at the St Louis, Liege and Milan Expos. Louchet was appointed Chevalier of the French Legion d’Honneur in 1908.
