Boxed French Antique Sterling Silver & Vermeil Slotted Spoon – Nap III 1860’s

A lovely, delicately styled slotted spoon, with a sterling silver handle and a vermeil  bowl.

There is a boar’s head hallmark for French sterling silver on the top rim of the spoon’s handle and a very faded hallmark.

The spoon is in very good condition.

The spoon measures 6 inches (15 cms) long and the bowl is 1 ½ inches (4cms) wide.

Dating from the 1860’s, the handle’s styling is very Napoleon III and comes with its original fitted box, which closes well.

Such a slotted spoon would have been used to drain olives, pickles or cranberries or as a sugar spreader and looks very elegant on a table.

Vintage and antique objects have lived and been used and because of that, they sometimes show it. The condition of the object is described as accurately as possible, including its character flaws. But that is really part of the attraction and enjoyment of an old piece.
