SXG-FV1 SPN 1001 stereo reverb delay board

SPN1001 FV1 chip on board is from Profusion PLC.

IMPORTANT:
Please read about FV-1 / SPN1001 REVERB IC and free DSP programs online before ordering this board.

PCB size 92 x 51mm

What is on the board:

  1. Stereo input and output.
  2. „Clip“ LED is on when the input signal is too high.
  3. „Tempo“ LED blinks as you change systems sample rate, faster  means better quality.
  4. Programs 0-7 internal and external selector and 7 segment display. Display dot is ON when external memory is selected.
  5. Regulated sample rate of the system between 16000Hz – 48000Hz with a potentiometric „SPEED“.
  6. Three potentiometers P0, P1, P2 to regulate selected program parameters.

You will receive the board assembled and tested.
You will need a low noise power supply +9V for the board.
All connectors are included.

How SPN1001 works there are lot of information online, please read before.

FV-1 / SPN1001 REVERB IC
The delay board is based on FV-1 / SPN1001 REVERB IC and its original version from Spin Semiconductor. The control is organized with PIC16F18445 MCU from Microchip. The FV-1 is extremely easy to include in any audio system. For all practical purposes, the FV-1 can be treated as an analog part. Although the FV-1 is fully digital internally, it has been designed with internal power supply bypassing and careful attention to signal pin protection devices so that only a clean power supply and expected analog techniques are required at the PCB level. The Spin Semiconductor FV-1 is a complete reverb solution in a single IC. With integrated stereo 24bit ADC and 24bit DACs, the FV-1 can be treated like any other analog component in your systems  signal path.

INPUT / OUTPUT
Input and output are stereo independent left and right channels made to the Semiconductor requirements. The output of the reverb delay board is ready to connect directly to yours amplifier or mixers input. The input of the board has no buffer but has a red clip LED: when LED is ON the signal is too strength! You must lower the input signal. The input to the board could be output from your mixer. To connect stereo microphone, guitar or any other instrument please consider the input buffer is needed.

PROGRAMS
The FV-1 can access a total of 16 programs, 8 are built in to the internal ROM and 8 are written in to the external serial EEPROM 24LC32A. By using an external EEPROM, you can use all programs also from others : all you need is already programmed 24LC32A chip to put into the IC socket on the board. Write me please if you need to write your downloaded programs into the EEPROM.

CONTROLS
With 3 potentiometer inputs P0, P1, P2  programs may have real time variable parameters such as decay time in a reverb, rate and depth in a chorus or frequency in a filter. Delay time, feedback, speed, reverb, dry/wet and all others: its up to the program written into the internal or external memory. These inputs are available as coefficients to your program and may be used independently of each other. Every time you load a new program from external serial EEPROM these pots can have different parameters to control.

7 SEGMENT DISPLAY
With a rotary encoder on board you select 0-7 internal programs or from external serial EEPROM on board. The selection internal / external programs is made pushing the rotary encoder: when the 7 segment display dot is ON – „external programs“, when the dot is „OFF“ – „internal programs“. As already mentioned above you can use any programmed for the FV1/SPN1001 IC EEPROM 24LC32A with your own programs: the IC is on the socket easy to change. You will receive also a programed EEPROM on board with 8 programs written on it.

SAMPLE RATE
The crystal oscillator is designed for the standard 32768 Hz watch crystal. The sample rate of the system will be at this applied rate. At 32768Hz, the ADC and DAC bandwidth will be 15KHz, at a clock frequency of 48KHz, the bandwidth will expand to
beyond 20KHz. On my board SXG-FV1 MCU level clock source is attached to the X1 terminal directly and the sample rate is between 16000Hz to 48000Hz is regulated with a potentiometer „SPEED“ on board.

As mentioned above: input buffers are required to use with stereo or mono microphones or guitars directly with this board.

All you need also is time to use this board, play different effects and create beautiful sound tracks!
