Beautiful antique metric laboratory/apothecary weight set. Metal label states "Arthur S. LaPine & Company, Chicago, Illinois. Mahogany box contains 9 chromed brass weights and 9 metric fractionals, plus tweezers. Box measures 5" long x 4" deep x 2" tall. Constructed of 5/16" thick mahogany and assembled using a splined miter joint. Brass weights are all marked and consist of  1 x 100 gram, 1 x 50 gram, 1 x 20 gram, 2 x 10 gram, 1 x 5 gram, 2 x 2 gram and 1 x 1 gram. Fractionals are 500mg, 200mg, 2 x 100mg, 50mg, 3 x 20mg, and 10mg.Glass cover over the mg weights. Pair of tweezers to handle smaller weights. Hardware is original and in good working order. Box was refinished with several coats of MinWax Satin varnish and hand polished to a soft luster with 0000 steel wool and paste wax. Cork pads protect bottom. Great for a collection or to use.
