THIS HEAVY DUTY REPLACEMENT SWITCH WILL NOT ONLY TRIPLE THE LIFE SPAN ON YOUR ORIGINAL IT ALSO IS A FINER TUNING SWITCH GIVING YOU 20 SPEEDS INSTEAD OF 10 LIKE YOUR ORIGINAL. SINCE IT IS HEAVY DUTY IT WEIGHS MORE (13 Gr) VS (10 Gr) LIKE YOUR ORIGINAL AND IT IS SMALLER IN SIZE. (smaller but more powerful)

YOUR ORIGINAL DIAL KNOB WILL FIT TIGHT LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO. YOU WILL NOT NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE UNTIL YOU USE IT AND SEE THE BETTER PRECISION AND SPEED RANGE. 

(Please note; Vitamix used different knobs on there machine, some have a flat side, some have a round hole, some have a set screw. This unit fits all of them  For the ones with a set screw, this switch will be a little loose, that is why you use the set screw ( you DO NOT need the flat side, this metal with the knurling works fine)

 THE SWITCH IN THIS LISTING WILL FIT(it is slightly different, however it locks in and once the cover is installed you cannot tell the difference, with the standard set tab hole in picture #10 it will be slightly off center, once you install the knob you will not notice it however if you want it to be centered simply expand the set tab hole to the center. Please note; when the variable speed jumps from 1-5 its a variable speed switch that needs replacing. When the machine just stays on high it is a circuit board problem

As a longtime Vitamix demonstrator and repairman, I can tell you the one part that seems to always fail after many years of use on a Vitamix is the variable speed switch on most Vitamix machines.

Does your machine (in the variable speed mode) skip speeds on the lower numbers 1-5?    You need a NEW variable speed switch.

Vitamix calls this switch a " POTENTIOMETER".

If you have it fixed by Vitamix it will set you back $100 and you have to ship the machine back and forth to OHIO.

 Now (with my simple step by step instructions) you can do it yourself for under $35
