McEliathan, 5th U.S. Artillery. In addfition to his signatures, his name and information also in the content of the book. This book provides the Official Army Register for the years 1861, 1862, 1863 and 1864 as well as the Official Register of the Fifth U.S. Artillery for the year 1864. It provides a comprehensive listing of personnel from the Civil War, organized by units, rank, department, etc, including seniority of rank, promotions, resignations, casualties, etc. within the Regular Army, Volunteer and Militia that served in the Federal Army during the Civil War. This comprehensive register, organized by state and unit, provides information and rosters on each unit. It includes details of each unit’s organization and the names and Civil War service information on each soldier by name. The book provides an excellent history and invaluable research and genealogical resource for personnel and units that served in the Civil War. THIS BOOK IS IN FINE CONDITION This original, first edition, antique book is in exceptional condition; this original book, published in 1861, has been professionally rebound in handsome, new, brown covers with bright, gold, spine lettering. The book comes protected in a clear, Mylar dust jacket (see photo #3). The book was signed twice by a Civil War Captain from the 5th U.S. Artillery. (In addition to his signatures, he is also included in the content of the book - scroll down to see photos #24, the last photo at the bottom). The exterior is in fine condition with no bumping, rubbing or wear. The lettering is sharp and bright. The book has marbled page ends on all three sides. The interior is clean and the pages are in excellent condition. The binding is in fine condition throughout the book; it has no looseness or lean and both hinges are fine. The author’s signature on the title page identifies him as a 1st Lieutenant and on another page as a Captain, and Brevet Major. The pages have no other writing on them. The book has no stamps, pasteboard, smudging, foxing or other markings. An exceptional condition, original, antique Army Register from the Civil War.
