A substantial Maitland-Smith Brass Footed Compote/Centerpiece with Figural Accents & Etching
  • This wonderful piece weighs a hefty 7 lb, 4 oz
  • It has a gold sticker on the bottom that says, "Designed and handmade in Thailand by Maitland-Smith"
  • This wonderful piece has a pedestal base and is 16" wide to the ends of the figural handles and 6" tall
  • The figures on the end of the handles are of a man whom we believe to represent Bellerophon
  • The etching in the center is of a Pegasus with Bellerophon holding a torch in one hand and a lyre in the other
  • The bottom of the pedestal has raised embossing of ivy leaves and vines
  • This is an older Maitland-Smith piece and the condition is commensurate with its age and usage.  The figures of the Pegasus (with, we believe, Bellerophon riding and holding a torch and lyre) is somewhat worn. We are adjusting the pricing with the wear in mind. Please see the pictures which are considered to be a part of the description.  It does need a good polishing, but we hesitate to do that in case the buyer wants the original patina.
