HUBERT PETITOT

A large French 1930-35 art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze by the famous Paris based company of Hubert Petitot holding six large shades in clear frosted molded-pressed glass. This model is never signed and was produced for Petitot by the Muller freres glass factories. If you would demount the fixture you would find the foundry marks AP (for Alexandre Petitot) on several spots.

The bronze maker Alexandre Petitot started his company in 1878. His son Hubert took over around 1917. The Paris based company of Petitot was a wholesale selling its lamps to lighting shops all over France Europe and the States. Together with Hettier & Vincent Petitot became the largest producer of French art deco lighting in the late 20s and early 30s. Petitot produced precious fixtures in high quality bronze using shades made by the best French glass manufacturers.

The chandelier has a drop of 92 cm (36.2") and a diameter of 76 cm (30"). The shades have a diameter of 18 cm.  The chandelier is in excellent condition. The mounting is re-nickeled and patinated. And it comes newly wired. It holds six American candelabra base sockets suitable for the US Canada and Japan. For European countries I will place E14 ones.

The chandelier will be shipped in several parcels with full insurance by priority airmail.
