110 foot tall square concrete tower with gallery, topped by a large square observation room and a rotating white light. The lighthouse is actually painted in a red and white checkerboard pattern, but from each side it appears to have red and white horizontal bands.

The lighthouse was repossessed by a bank in 1990 and deteriorated for years. In 2006 it was purchased by Harold Riley of Austin, owner of the Citizens Insurance Company. Riley restored and reactivated the lighthouse; in 2008 it was repainted with the checkerboard daymark.

Located near Buchanan Dam off TX 29 about halfway between Burnet and Llano in Llano County and 60 mi (96 km) northwest of Austin. Site and tower closed, although the lighthouse can be seen from the state highway.
