 Shipping Info
-free usps untracked economy (The old average was about 7 days, but lately, some of the delivery times have been longer)
This shipping is what most of my customers use. It's perfect for amateur / personal mods with no set deadline and it saves you from having to pay extra $ for tracking. It's not as good as the tracked options, but it usually works out fine and without any issues. It does have a potential for unpredictability, but that's how the mail is these days and it's just something to keep in mind.

If you need this for business, I highly recommend selecting any of the following at checkout.
-usps tracked first class (avg. about 3-5 days)
-usps advantage tracked/advantage ground (avg. about 3-5 days) ←I have this at a discount to encourage you to use it.
-usps tracked priority (avg. about 2-3 days)
These are better choices if you need this for an upcoming business deadline, gig deadline, personal deadline, etc.
These tracked options are faster, but they're also a little bit safer and less likely to get lost when compared to my free usps untracked economy option.

Lastly, if anything goes wrong with anything, shipping or otherwise, please send me a regular message and I'll always fix the problem right away no matter what. Thanks

I have some newer directions with additional recommendations and tips. I'll add it to this listing in a day or 2.  If you order before that, I'll put the newer directions in your messages. Thanks

Serial Number Ink Stamp for Gibson Custom Shop

If you’re looking for a budget way to restore the number on your guitar after a headstock repair or refinish, this might be for you.

You will get one new "CS-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-0" ink stamp strip and piece of double sided tape (shown in photo #2).  If you need two or more stamp strips (for serial numbers that have multiples of the same digit), I have a discount above.

The "CS" letters and numbers are based directly from several clean examples from 2015 Custom Shop Les Pauls.
They're a good match for most 2010-Now regular Custom Shop Les Pauls.
Over the years, the spacing between the "CS" and the spacing between numbers seems to vary a little bit.
So you might need to do a little adjusting to get the right spacing when you stick the numbers to your stamp block.

The acrylic stamp block shown in the photos is not included. It is shown for example only.

How to use
Cut the digits out with a fresh rectangular razor blade. Cutting with downward pressure like a guillotine seems to work best.
Lay the double sided tape down on your stamp block. (you can make a stamp block from scrap wood, plastic, whatever)
Stick your digits to the strip of double sided tape and you are ready to stamp. A cheap pair of tweezers is a good tool for mounting your digits, especially for making small adjustments (it's not necessary, but I recommend it).

The Custom Shop serial number stamp is done with a solvent ink. I believe the factory stamp is at least under 1 layer of the lacquer clear coat, but it's hard to tell. It ends up looking pretty much the same whether you do it over or under.

For Ink

StazOn makes a decent solvent ink that comes with a stamp pad, it's cheap and it can be bought at a craft store, but solvent ink will work.

Any of these inks will get the job done

Black Ink

StazOn Jet Black Multi-Surface Solvent Ink

StazOn Piano Black Pigment Solvent Ink (piano black is slightly more opaque than jet black)

White Ink

StazOn Snowflake Pigment Solvent Ink

I've also been working on a custom made ink to offer here, it's almost ready.

Many Custom Shop serial numbers are staggered, misaligned, smudged, under inked, over inked and some are just plain messy, LOL.  So it won’t matter if you screw up a little bit, it'll still look authentic.

It does take a little practice getting your hand to apply the perfect amount of pressure and takes some time and patience to cut out the digits and stick them to your stamp block, but it should be a fun little project for you. I recommend practicing on lacquer painted scrap wood. If you plan to put a thin layer of lacquer over it, practice that also.  If you run into any problems, need help or have questions, let me know.  Thanks
