Oktoberfest
Welcome Braumeister, to the world famous Bavarian festival called
Oktoberfest! The wedding celebration of Crown Prince Ludwig I and Princess Theresa of Saxe-Hildburghausen in 1810 quickly became an annual tradition.
Every year the size of the festival grew and by the end of the 19th century At the beginning of the 19th century, sponsored beer tents and rival breweries were an integral part of the event.
Oktoberfest is a card-driven game loosely based on the Folksfest, which began as a public wedding celebration. Set in the late 1800s, players compete for control of six types of beer, many of which are hardly available in Bavaria and have nothing to do with Oktoberfest.
As visitors arrive, players place bids to decide where the visitors will go and how much they will drink. By placing cards in the different tents, players purchase beer kegs according to the type and value shown on the visitor card.
The player who gets rid of the most barrels of each type receives points at the end of the game. The problem with that? The game ends before all twelve tents can be completed, and only closed tents score points.
The last type of beer used in the tent before the tent is closed receives all the points for the tent, and the players with the most kegs of each type receive points. But be careful of evacuation cards that come into play randomly and empty entire tents! Collect the right barrels, close tents with the appropriate type of beer at the top, and victory is assured!
