The original 2nd edition of Cook's book from 1982, with a different cover and extended extensive material compared to the 1st edition from 1980. The content of the book is the technical requirements from the 10th kyu training level to the 3rd Dan master level (strikes, blocks, kicks, application of techniques in during combat, breathing techniques). After each completed technique, photos and descriptions are followed by an advanced interpretation of techniques with a real attacking opponent (bunkai), occasionally presented in other publications, and contains formal exercises of 28 kata form patterns.
Book format 21 x 30 cm, slightly lacquered cover with a matte finish, larger volume of 288 pages, English-Swedish language, content of 3,500 time-lapse photos presenting Kyokushin techniques made on thick cards. Additionally, the book contains training techniques, defensive and offensive self-defense techniques are introduced. On the hard inner covers of the book, on the front and back, there are photos with descriptions of several outstanding Kyokushin instructors - Steve Arneil, Antonio Pinero, Len Barnes... etc. Additionally, there are several additional photos inside the book. The book has a foil cover to maintain its good condition. The book is tight, there are no loose or falling pages. No markings, underlining or signatures. The pages are clean, without stains. The condition of the book is excellent. The publication is unavailable, not only in official sales, but also on the secondary market. The condition of the book is excellent considering the year of publication and its use.
So far, this second edition of Cook's book and the third extended in two volumes, faithfully corresponding to the Kyokushin style, were approved by Masutatsu Oyame and considered by him to be one of the best guides for beginners and instructors from 10 Kyu to 3 Dan that have been published with the presentation of appropriate techniques on training in the Kyokushin karate style and the use of these techniques in fights by people practicing different styles of karate. The position is considered one of the best publications on karate, taking into account the material content and its presentation.
The legendary publication is not available even in secondary circulation. The book is already 42 years old, is well respected and is still in very good condition. Due to its material content, the book is unique and is a great item for a home library. For historical reasons, it is a wonderful and unique position in the world literature of karate and the Kyokushinkai style.
