Hold to the now, the here, through which all future plunges to the past.

Here we offer the first edition, stated 8th printing, of the classic modernist novel, Ulysses, by James Joyce, published by Shakespeare and Company, Paris, in 1926. Ulysses is rated the best novel ever written by Modern Library. These were all published in an oversized format, but in acidic paper-wrap binding, so that they are found either in a brittle original binding, or, as is the case here, they are rebound. This particular treatment has applied a facsmile paper wrap in the same folded and spine-sealed fashion as the original; this new wrap printed on acid-free coated heavyweight paper, the coating providing the brightest and crispest presentation possible, as the inks are not absorbed into the pulp. As a result, the book is well protected and easy to read. The facsimile wrap even includes a facsimile bookseller label of the legendary Sunwise Turn literary salon and bookshop in NYC, the only US bookseller initially willing to sell the controversial masterpiece. The remnants of the original wrap are bound within.

Binding is very tight and square. Remnants of original wraps are chipped and repaired. Rough edges and tanned text typical for this edition. Text is very clean, bright, and crisp. 735 pages. The book measures approximately 8.25 x 6.75-inches. Wrap comes protected in Mylar sleeve, ready to slip into your collection.

This classic first will make a wonderful centerpiece to your collection or a very thoughtful gift.
