1 x Whisky Barrel Lid / Wine Barrel Lid

Whisky Barrel Tops/Lids –

Please read: These barrel lids are not one solid round piece of wood, they are made up of 6-10 small pieces of oak that are held together by dowels or grooves. These are held together by pressure from the steel bands on a full barrel. Therefore, an element of gluing, bracing or joining is required by the buyer to ensure these are stuck together.

The individual pieces will likely come apart in transport and have to be put together by the buyer. They are often charred on the reverse to provide the distinct smoky flavour to whiskey and they are dirty. Most lids have been marked or painted by the distillery. All of the above can add to the character and no 2 lids are the same.

Some lids will be painted, some lids will have their original markings on. These are picked at random and come in various conditions/sizes. Please remember these are a raw material item and will require some work to bring them up to standard.

Wine Barrel Tops/Lids –

Similar to the above, somelids will be charred, some will have red wine crystalisation and stains on the bottom. Some have green rings along the outside and some don't. Some will have vineyard/cooperage branding.

Wine barrel lids are generally slightly more structurally sound and cleaner than whiskey barrel lids.

The dimensions can vary from lid to lid:
