French Pictures in Pencil and Pen
Leo De Colange
Estes and Lauriat, Publishers | Boston | 1879
pp. 142 | First Edition/Early Printing

Good- condition hardcover with brick cloth boards and adornments stamped in blind, black, and gilt. Extremities moderately rubbed with scuffing to bevels and joints and small pieces of spine caps missing, though bevels and stamps remain quite sharp nonetheless. Covers show varying degrees of scuffs and spots with noticeable chips to rear. Front cover presents strikingly, however, with bright gilding and rich detail. Endpapers are foxed with occasional border-foxing throughout interior, and front pastedown shows a bookplate, though pages are free of any writing of stains. Illustrations and plates are bright, and all tissue guards are present and in-tact. Both hinges are tender with binding fabric visible, though untorn, and gutters show no further splits. A lovely volume overall with handsome ornamentation.
