Up for sale is a great, colored, original ANTIQUE MAP OF SUSQUEHANA COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA - 1872.
It is a map of ARARAT, PENNSYLVANIA. It is blank on the reverse side.
It is a very detailed map measuring approximately 12 1/2 x 15 1/2 inches, including the border area.
This map is from the "ATLAS OF SUSQUEHANA CO. PENNSYLVANIA. FROM ACTUAL SURVEYS BY AND UNDER THE DIRECTION OF F.W. BEERS. PUBLISHED BY A. POMEROY & CO. - NEW YORK 1872". Engravings on stone by Louis E. Neuman. Litho. Power Press Print of Charles Hart.
Maps this early and showing this much detail are a great piece of history! The map has fantastic coloring to it. There is a tear across the left edge from where it was originally bound.
Map is generally in Good- Condition. Some age related browning and toning and some spotting and stains. The map has some small tears and chips around the edges, but they do not affect the map. Some of the text is faded. There are heavier stains along the left edge and some foxing of leaves down the right side of the map. Some other dings here and there.
This map would be a great addition to any collection and will look very nice when framed!
Please note that while I have included a picture of the Title Page of the Atlas that this map was taken from, it is NOT included in the sale, as it is a reference piece to determine authenticity for the other maps. I would be happy to include a copy if requested.
