GEORGE III STERLING SILVER TEAPOT WITH ORIGINAL STAND (RARE). Dispatched with Royal Mail 1st Class.

Beautifully made by Peter & Ann Bateman in 1792.

This beautiful and very elegant octagonal 1792 Bateman teapot and stand. Both are fully and correctly marked. The teapot has one mark inside the lid, one on the handle and one on the bottom. The stand is also marked on the bottom.

In addition to the marks, the teapot and stand carry a nearly imperceptible engraved signature. “George Gray” on the bottom next to the marks. Grimwade writes "His first mark appears frequently overstruck on those of Hester Bateman and her successors Peter and Anne, and it would seem likely that he bought extensively from them".

These are signature and not the more common overstrike.

The teapot and stand are both are in pristine condition. There are no signs of previous repair. There are no monograms of any kind.
