Marantz's first USB-DAC/headphone amplifier with full discrete non-feedback output buffer

The HD-DAC1 packs a headphone amplifier with the proven USB-DAC function and a newly developed non-feedback output buffer in a compact body with a width of 25 cm and a depth of 27 cm. Build a compact PC audio system on the desk side and enjoy high-quality sound with headphones and powered speakers. Of course, we have carefully designed and tuned the sound so that it can perform well when incorporated into a hi-fi audio system.

The USB-DAC supports both native playback of DSD files (2.8 MHz/5.6 MHz), PCM file playback at 192 kHz/24 bit, and asynchronous mode. And, it is equipped with the data audio high quality technology established by USB-DAC/network audio player flagship model "NA -11 S1" "digital isolation system" and "Dual Crystal Clock". By suppressing the effect of high frequency noise on sound quality and using an optimum clock according to the input signal, high transparency and stable spatial expression were realized.

The headphone amplifier features a two-stage configuration consisting of a current-feedback voltage amplifier using a "HDAM ® - SA2" and a newly developed non-feedback output buffer amplifier. By further accelerating the speed of the entire circuit and improving the driving force, we were able to take a step closer to the ideal that Marantz has been pursuing, that is, "To reproduce original sound faithfully and musically richly.". The three-step gain switching function allows you to set the optimum volume according to the impedance and efficiency of the headphones you connect.

The analog output circuit features Marantz's original high-speed amplifier module "HDAM ®" and a full-discrete current-feedback amplifier. The audio output terminal is equipped with two types, fixed output and variable output.

USB-DAC
USB-B Input for DSD Playback
Supports DSD signal (2.8/5.6 MHz) input from PC. It supports both native playback by the ASIO driver and DoP (DSD Audio over PCM Frames). PCM signals can be input up to 192 kHz/24 bit. It is also compatible with the asynchronous mode in which the clock is not synchronized with the PC and is controlled by the high-precision clock circuit of the HD-DAC1 body. Jitter-free transmission is possible regardless of clock fluctuation (Jitter) on the PC side.
- On a Windows ® PC, a dedicated driver must be downloaded from the Marantz website and installed on the PC beforehand. Mac OS does not require the driver to be installed.
- OS support: Windows ® Vista and Windows ® 7, Windows ® 8, Macintosh ® OSX 10.6.3 or later
- USB 2.0: USB High speed/USB Audio Class V 2.0

Coaxial/Optical Digital Input/Output
Equipped with 1 coaxial digital and 2 optical digital inputs for PCM signals of up to 192 kHz/24 bit. The signals from the coaxial/optical digital input and the USB-A input are jitter reduced by a jitter reducer before D/A conversion. Digital devices such as CD players, network media players and TVs can be connected to provide high-quality playback through the HD-DAC1 D/A converter and analog output circuit.
