My father commenced work at The
Standard Chartered Bank (then known as The Standard Bank) as a Messenger and
worked his way through the ranks to Manager level! In his eighties now, my father has had a
little clear out of items that he has held for up to 50-60 years.
Please see my other auctions for
more rare and collectable Standard Chartered items.
The auctions I am listing are 100%
genuine and most are brand new, still in the original packaging. For your assurance, the
items come from an obsessively clean and hygienic home and my father has stored
them with pride.
Brief history of The Standard Chartered Bank
Chartered Bank
The Chartered Bank began in 1853. Chartered opened its
first branches in Bombay, Calcutta and Shanghai in 1858, followed by Hong
Kong and Singapore in 1859. The Bank started issuing banknotes of the Hong
Kong dollar in 1862.
Standard Bank
The Standard Bank was a British bank founded in South
Africa in 1862. Having established a considerable number of
branches, Standard was prominent in financing the development of the diamond
fields of Kimberley from 1867 and later extended its network when gold was
discovered there in 1885. Half the
output of the second largest gold field in the world passed through The Standard
Bank on its way to London. Standard
expanded widely in Africa over the years, but from 1883 to 1962 was formally
known as the Standard Bank of South Africa.
In 1962 the bank changed its name to Standard Bank Limited, and the
South African operations were formed into a separate subsidiary which took
the parent bank's previous name, Standard Bank of South Africa Ltd.
Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong
Both banks acquired other smaller banks along the way and
spread their networks further. In 1969,
the banks decided to merge and to counterbalance their network by expanding in
Europe and the United States, while continuing expansion in their traditional
markets in Asia and Africa.
Parcel weight 312g (+/- 10g)
I
am just a regular private seller departing with bits and pieces I no longer
have a use for! I only sell items I would want to receive myself – any item
defects will be stated in my auctions. Please do have a
wander... you may find something you’ve been searching ages for!
Postage
I do not profit on postage
& only charge the actual Royal Mail rate of postage plus approximately 20p-40p
towards the cost of packaging, depending on the size of the item. I always pack my items well and obtain a
certificate of posting.
~
I do combine postage (please
wait for an invoice). Each additional
item won will typically be 40p extra, but the weight may push a parcel into a
higher postage bracket. I have stated
the weight of all my items to give you an indication of the auctions you can
combine in one parcel.
International Buyers
Due to a large amount of
parcels going missing worldwide I only
post internationally via Tracked &
Signed Delivery (this excludes Northern Ireland), hence the high postage
rate. I DO NOT SEND LIQUID OR BEAUTY
PRODUCTS INTERNATIONALLY.
Returns
Returns are accepted.
A refund will be issued, excluding all postage and packaging costs, providing
the item is returned in its original condition with original packaging and tags
(if applicable). The return postage cost will be borne by the buyer.
With My Kindest
