And by and by Christopher Robin came to the end of things, and he was silent, and he sat there, looking out over the world, just wishing it wouldn't stop.

Here we offer the scarce true stated first retail edition of A.A. Milne's endearing classic, The House At Pooh Corner, published by Methuen and Company, London, in 1928. This is the deluxe gilt-impressed green leather variation with gilt all the way around the text block (to keep dust out) that Methuen offered for 3 extra shillings. They printed only 5,000 leather copies, only 1,500 of which were in green.

This is a particularly special children's classic, as it was created by a father for his child, and it feels like it.  Densely illustrated by the iconic Pooh illustrator, E.H. Shepard, and featuring tales of all the beloved Winnie-the-Pooh characters, this book is a delightful classic. Comes with a facsimile of the original advertising leaflet Milne's UK publisher inserted with Winnie the Pooh.

Lightly chipped spine leather has been reinforced with ph-neutral consolidant; edges of boards are worn (please see pics.) Uninscribed decorative endpages are intact. Binding is very tight and square. Very clean, crisp, and bright text and illustrations.  179 pages, measures approximately 7.5 x 5-inches.

This very special book will make a wonderful addition to your collection or a very special and thoughtful gift.
