From an estate, antique Germany Koch & Bergfeld Perl pattern 90 silverplate flatware, 6 soup spoons, 6 forks, 6 knives, original boxes. They are monogrammed.
Condition; spoons & forks are in great condition. Knives have some pitting as shown in photos. Boxes are worn.
90" is a quality mark indicating that 90 grams of silver were used to plate 12 spoons and 12 forks.
The classical pearl design is one of the oldest used by Koch & Bergfeld, with its simple, elegant form remaining virtually unchanged since 1867. Yet this does not mean that the silverware workshop holds the monopoly on this type of design.
What is so particularly special about this pattern is the detailing: strings of pearls on the front and back. The pearls are cleanly worked in the handle up to the inner bowl, the front of the spoon – this creates the slender lines of this cutlery. There should be no projecting ridges, and you should be able to feel each of the pearls with your finger – that's the little big difference which characterises Perl silverware from Koch & Bergfeld!
