Here is a device that can save hours on the bench. Use this electrolytic capacitor substitution box to bridge old caps temporarily to see if new ones will improve the set's performance, without removing the old one first. Comes with both "tweezer" and alligator clip test leads, making it easy to test both axial and radial capacitors. 

These were designed to substitute electrolytics in popular transistor radios and similar battery-operated devices. They are all 50VDC capacitors. Values are 4.7, 47 and 470 mf.
