A substantial handmade soapstone bowl weighing around 3 lbs or 1.2 Kg.  Each bowl depicts Maasai Herdsmen on the Maasai Mara with their cattle.  Hand carved and hand painted. You will be buying a truly individual piece.

The natural dyes used will fade over time but you can protect your bowl from this by polishing regularly with wax polish such as beeswax or even shoe polish.  Obviously it should not be used for food due to the use of the polish.

Soapstone is a natural rock found in the village of Tabaka near Kisii, Kenya.  When carved and polished it is beautifully smooth and tactile.  Most of the villagers make their living creating soapstone items.
