Victorian Military 'Essex Yeomanry Cavalry' Riding Whip/Crop W/ H/m 1874 Silver

This riding-whip has a dark brown leather cladded handle furnished with a silver collar and cap, the collar is hallmarked:
'London 1874'
With a makers mark 'E.H.W' for 'Edwin Henry Watts'.
The collar has a presentation reading:
'Frank Bateman
Essex Yeoy Cavy

'The Essex Yeomanry was a Reserve unit of the British Army that originated in 1797 as local Yeomanry Cavalry Troops in Essex. Reformed after the experience gained in the Second Boer War, it saw active service as cavalry in World War I and as artillery in World War II. Its lineage is maintained by 36 (Essex Yeomanry) Signal Squadron, part of 71 (Yeomanry) Signal Regiment, Royal Corps of Signals.'

'John Glas Sandeman (1836-1922) joined the 1st Royal Dragoons in 1853 and served in the Crimean War. After leaving the Dragoons he was colonel of Essex Yeomanry Cavalry.'
