This vintage, dollhouse miniature (1:12) scale, unfinished, unpainted, Tynie Toy / Tynietoy wooden, hooded, rocking, baby cradle was made by the Tynie Toy Company of Providence, RI some time before 1952. It was part of the unsold stock acquired by the (now closed) Angel's Attic Doll Museum of Santa Monica, CA. The Angel's Attic Doll Museum bought it from the Tynie Toy company some time after the company closed its doors in 1952. It has been in storage ever since.
The cradle is a very lovely piece, even in its unfinished state. Originally, it would have been stained either maple or mahogany. It is marked on the bottom with a logo of a pine tree and a Colonial style house, below which are the words "Tynie Toy Inc Prov RI T M Reg".
The measurements of the cradle are 3 5/8" L (from back edge of cradle hood to front top edge of foot board) x 2 1/2" W (rocker tip to rocker tip) " x about 2 3/4" H (front edge of cradle hood to floor). The inner base of the cradle measures 2 3/4" L x 1 1/4" W.
The cradle is in excellent condition. I consider this item New or New Old Stock (NOS). I bought it with the intention of refinishing it but never quite got around to it. It has been stored by an adult collector and never been handled or used for display. I have another one which is a vintage, original, Tynie Toy cradle similar to this in my Hitty House where it holds a tiny, Heidi Ott dollhouse baby. THE DOLLS IN THE PHOTO ARE NOT A PART OF THIS LISTING, NOR IS THE HAND CROCHETED BABY BLANKET.
