T Heinrich Folk Art Wood Carving Sculpture Figure Montreal Quebec Hand Carved Habitant Man Toque Sash Polychrome

Vintage folk art wood carving of a Habitant man wearing a red toque, ceinture fléchée, while smoking a pipe. This wonderful Quebec carving is hand-signed “Hand Carved in Montreal T Heinrich”. A rare and hard to find carver, this T. Heinrich carving measures about 2 inches by 1 3/4 inches tall by 5.75 inches tall. A well executed carving retaining some of its original red paint on the sash and hat. Similar in style to the Trygg family carvings. I really like the detailed carving of the pipe which is carved into his beard and hand. Typically the pipes often stick out of the mouth and get lost or snapped off. The nose and pipe have wear spots but otherwise good vintage condition. Examine pictures for greater condition details. This carving dates from the 1940s - 1950s.
