original 1867 antique lithographed hand colored map of the town of
New Fairfield
in
Fairfield
County, Connecticut, printed more than 150 years ago.
- It depicts the area before
the creation of Candlewood
Lake and Margerie Reservoir, and details include wagon roads,
businesses, school districts, churches, cemeteries, saw mills, and
individual
homes and farms, with the names of property owners.
- It is drawn on a scale of two inches to
the mile, and the image area
measures 40.4 x 32 cm [16" x 12½"].
- There's an inset plan of New Fairfield Center, drawn on a
scale of 40 rods to the inch,
along with a business directory.

Among the named places, features, and businesses are Ball Pond, A.F.
Beardsley's
Lightning Rod Factory, Congregational Church, Wood Creek, Town Hall,
Squantz Pond, Great Meadow, Benjamin Beers Churn & Cultivator
Factory, Locust Glen, and the Great

clean, with no marks, rips, or tears. It is blank
on the back, with no
