Being offered on
this auction is incredible Art Deco Figurine made by Porzellanmanufaktur Schaubach-Kunst,
Wallendorf, Thuringia, Germany. It features expressive
resting female dancer (ruhende tänzerin). She is sitting on pedestal
representing chair supporting herself by right arm and opening her neck to
air by the left one. She is wearing short dress. Figurine is in cream color
with gold details. Her dress has gold rose ornament and gold outlines. Her
shoes are also in gold. Her hair is made with gold outlines. Gold lines are
across pedestal as well. Gentle texture
of porcelain beautifully represents her body. Figurine is glazed. Looks
splendid. Max Fritz designed this figurine. Max Daniel Hermann Fritz (1873 –
1948) was acknowledged sculptor and modeler. He is most known for his
Rosenthal and Hutschenreuther figurines. From 1918 to 1925 he worked mainly
for the art department of Porzellanfabrik Fraureuth, which Walendorf branch
essentially became Schaubach-Kunst. Figurine on this auction is marked on the backside with standard
Schaubach-Kunst mark in green identifying production of
c. 1926. Other
marking is model number S. 32/496 on the gold
Schaubach-Kunst
sticker attached to the backside (this is actually interesting; this is SK
model number as oppose to Fraureuth or Heubach numbers).
Figurine measures about 3” x 2” and
stands 6 ½” tall. Condition is very good with no cracks or chips found. Colors
are bright and vibrant. Gold has very minor wear. Please take a look at the
