Simonet frères & Dieupart

A beautiful French 1925-1930 art deco lamp in nickel plated solid brass or bronze holding a shade in frosted opalescent pressed glass. The lamp was produced by the famous company of Simonet frères.  Simonet started in the 19th century as producer of bronze gas lamps. In 1925 they changed their style into art deco. They asked the sculptor Henri Dieupart to design their glassware like vases and lamp shades.  The extremely rare cube on this table lamp is never signed.  This model is called "les diamants". A Simonet chandelier with identical 'diamonds' cubes can be seen on a picture of a Simonet freres chandelier in a French magazine about interior design ('Mobilier et Décoration') published in 1928.

The lamp has a height of 32,5 cm (12,8 inches) and the shade is 13 x 9,3 x 9,3 cm. It is in excellent condition. I re-nickeled the base. And the lamp is rewired with an American candelabra base socket and US 2-prong plug. For European countries I will place a E14 socket.
