1972 Malta Coin 50c Prova Test Coin Trial Coin Extremely Rare

Following the Malta independence in 1964 and the use of British currency, in 1972 Malta issued the first coinage which was a decimal coinage which incorporated a set of 8 coins.
The lowest values was the fractional 2 mils and the highest was the 50 Cents, referred to as the Lm0.50 or half a pound, or in Maltese as the ’NOFS LIRA’

In this listing is the highest denomination coin. A trial 50cent coin. 

Make no mistake, this is genuine. They were used for educational purposes in banks and media broadcasts to educate the people of the ’New Currency’.

Rarely found or listed in any catalogues due to the lack of knowledge, this coin is rare and geniune
