Original 1991 Soviet Union 3 Kopek Coin - the last of their kind to ever be minted.
In the morning of the 25th of December 1991, Mikhail Gorbachev resigned his post as president of the Soviet Union, conceding his tenure to Boris Yelstsin as President of the newly independent Russia. On that same night, the Soviet hammer and sickle flag lowered for the last time over the Kremlin, thereafter replaced by the Russian tricolor.
Available to you are coins minted on this same fateful year, the year that marked the end of the Soviet experiment in Russia that had begun in the distant Red October of 1917, when Europe was ravaged in the midst of war, ideological clashes and revolutions. The dream of international communism was quashed, not by an inevitable and bloody war between those West and East of the Iron curtain but by a slow and agonizing downfall marked by economic downturns, military defeats and internal corruption scandals.
The coins of the historic year in Russian and world history alike are now made available to you neatly protected inside our elegant glass top leather cases ready to be displayed in your collections!
