Makiwara

The makiwara is a wooden striking-post used in Okinawan and Japanese martial arts to train striking techniques. The makiwara is not a wooden heavy bag. I cannot emphasize that enough. The makiwara is like a good honing stone. It requires time and repetition. And most importantly it requires skill in operating it. But if you take the time to develop that skill then the results you can achieve are nothing short of astounding.

This listing is for a 4ft by 4ft base to mount my floor mounted makiwara. This listing is only for the platform. Platform comes disassembled with all necessary hardware.

In the box:  4ft x 4ft platform with bolts

One last DISCLAIMER:  Do not use a makiwara without the experience or supervision to keep you safe. If you do injure yourself stop using the makiwara until you are fully healed. If you are under 18 years old do not strike the makiwara with full power.

Please contact me if you have any questions. Makiwara are just a part of a whole line Hojo Undo equipment I make including:  a wall-mounted makiwara, olympic and standard weight sized chi ishi handles, nigiri game (gripping jars), and kongokens (weighted ovals and literally the greatest things ever). There are virtually no suppliers of these items so I'm happy to do my part.
