Handmade of "white stoneware" then high-fired. All design and detailed textures are carved while clay is leather hard. After firing, sliced bamboo or grape woods are fitted for each individual lid.

Sandi Dihl passed away in 2010. Her work is very rare to come by. I have not found any sets of her stoneware for sale either. 

                            From Sandi on describing the origin/influence of her "Wishkeeper" Stoneware:

                      When I was a child, my father would often travel to Japan, and return with small covered bowls which he presented as gifts. He would tell me that the covered bowl was a special place to keep my wishes, written and safe, until the came true..... Most often, they did.

                      My "Wishkeeper" design has evolved from the spirit of my fathers gifts and the novelty of his thoughts.

I bought this original signed set in 1997 while in Northern California. Smoke free home. Original, all 3 square pots contain the original paper scrolls to write your wishes and a piece of paper describing the meaning of the Japanese writing on the exterior. The 2 smaller ones meaning: "Health and Happiness" & "Love and Happiness" The 2 small boxes and their lids are in perfect condition. As stated above, and you'll see in the photos, the largest of the 3... its lid has a few markings and one of the grape woods curly thingies, a tiny piece broke off which I do have inside the box.
