These cufflinks were cut, polished, and assembled by my father.  He used a "picture Travertine" stone which has bands and mineral deposits in the stone that leads you to see a picture.  This one looks like trees on the horizon and clouds in the air.  The gold plated cufflink findings are epoxied to the back.  Each stone is about 1 inch square.

My father had a PhD in mineralogy and loved to cut and polish both cabochons and faceted stones.  He would often turn these stones into simple jewelry.  He enjoyed finding more exotic stones than the typical gemstones that we all recognize.  My father told me that he "let the stone dictate the shape" and that means his cabochons truly emphasize the best the stone has to offer. Creating such unique shapes puts his work into a different category from the mass cut stones that come from Asia or India.

I'll be posting more of my father's rock collections (rough material, cut stones, pendants, mineral specimens, and other rock related items) off and on for months so do make my store one of your favorites and check in often to see what new items are listed.  I'll gladly combine shipping for purchases made on the same day.  Thanks!
