Large David West (1939) Jurassic Coast Sea Scape Carving in Relief 171cm x 75cm

A large and very heavy (30kg) sea scape carving incorporating the natural features of the wood, it is our understanding that it was inspired by the Jurassic coast. It looks to be carved out of a single piece of wood possibly reclaimed from a table.

David West (Born 1939) is a west country artist who has exhibited widely and in 2018 Dorset County Museum hosted a major retrospective of David’s carvings and paintings.

This is an extremely large and heavy piece and is for collection only to give the buyer the ability to ensure this piece is really what they are looking for.

I have included a number of photos and these probably describe the item better than I can and form part of the description. Everyone has different considerations when purchasing items and if you need any further information, please feel free to contact me and I will try to help.

Condition: There may be some fading from its original condition and there is some trapped dust. There are marks on the back. You can see through one of the knots. The back of the wood has two faded areas with screw holes, possibly indicating the wooden  panel used in this piece may originally formed a table top. Please also see photos.

Size: 171cm by 75cm by 5cm thick (max). 30.2kg.
