Founder of Buddhism, born in Kapilvastu, Nepal, as the crown prince of
the mighty Shakya Kingdom, who attained enlightenment in India in the
6th century BC under the BodhGaya tree.
☑ He is the son of king
Suddhodhana and his queen Maya who is a historical figure identified as
Siddhartha Gautama distinct from any other ordinary names given to
Buddha in Buddhism.
☑ Buddhists and other followers venerate him as
an enlightened being whose teachings attempted to escape people from
ignorance, craving, rebirth, and suffering.
He is set in the lotus meditation posture, with his legs crossed at the ankles, soles facing upward, and back totally straight.

His right hand stretches down to earth, symbolizing the time he
summoned the ground to witness his ascension into the realm of Mara,
while his left hand rests on his lap in a meditation posture and holds
his alms bowl.
☑ He wears a plain, thin monk's robe that wraps his
left shoulder and arm but leaves his right arm uncovered, with a
protuberance at the top of his head signifying transcending wisdom.
