Absolutely adorable child's pre-World War II birthday cake plate. The birthday child would be given this unique plate with his serving of cake to set him apart from the other kids at the party. This would have showcased the single serving of birthday cake sliced from big cake, which would have sat in the middle of the table. There is a sweet circus elephant at the center standing on the ubiquitous circus platform, a little mouse and a fox rolling a ball and a little clown doll are on the inside of the rim. The color is hand-painted over the black transfer design. The rim is hand painted with karat gold.
