SLEEPING EROS - THE WINGED GOD OF LOVE

Eros in Greek mythology was the Greek god of love. His Roman counterpart was Cupid("desire"). Some myths make him a primordial god, while in other myths, he is the son of Aphrodite. The sleeping Eros was a popular figure in Hellenistic art and beyond. Rather than the more traditional depiction of the cheeky and mischievous archer child, the god is reworked as a vulnerable, sleeping child. All our bronze items, are cast in Greece, using the traditional 'lost wax' method. As nothing is mass-produced, there will inevitably be slight variations in patination and colouring. Each piece is, therefore, unique.(25-660-A)
