Beautiful boxed ilias LALAoUNIS Creten Labyrinth paperweight in bronze and silver.

Beautiful ilias LALAoUNIS paper weight in bronze and silver. The paperweight is a solid bronze box mounted with a sterling silver coin.

The coin depicts the Creten Labyrinth – an elaborate structure said to be designed and built by Daedalus for King Minos of Crete at Knossos. Its function was to hold the Minotaur, the monster eventually killed by the hero Theseus. It is inspired by a coin of Knossos (4th centuryB.C.).

The mounted coin is stamped with “lalaounis 925” –the 925 indicates that the coin is made from sterling silver.

Weight = 274g. Length 4cm. Width 4cm. Height 2 cm.

As per photo’s 1 side is stamped with he following text:

“IEAP / EIPA 1981 – 1991 MAASTRCHT”.

This text relates to the European Institute of Public Administration and has been engraved onto the piece for some kind of commemorative purpose.

Made in Greece, the piece dates to the 1970’s/80’s. It is in goodvintage condition (as per photos) – Very minor wear only. The box is a little worn with a few minor scuff marks and 2 small tears inside.
