Here we have an extremely rare and elegant bulbous pitcher dating from the early 1800s.  The side of the pitcher is glazed light orange and is with decorated with numerous black mocha tree decorations over continuous bands of mocha underbrush.  The pitcher is stunning with a pleasing bulbous form, narrow at the rim, wide in the middle, and tapering down to the flat base.  Measuring 4” in height to the rim, the pitcher has been cherished for 200+ years and is in fine original condition.   A similar design pitcher is shown on page 52 in Jonathan Rickard’s definitive book “MOCHA and related dipped wares, 1770-1939.”  Any collector and student of mocha ware would be pleased to add this pitcher to their collection.
