Longaberger Handwoven Heart Shaped Basket 2000 Century Celebration, Special Edition, Small Size.

This 2000 Little Love Classic Sweetheart basket is fabulous for organizing and entertaining. This basket is a great size and shape for keeping all your fingernail supplies together on your dresser-polish; clippers, and filing boards fit neatly. Keep it beside your bed to keep reading glasses, mints, cough drops, hair elastics, the TV remote, or place it on a vanity as a makeup caddie.

I also love to entertain with it. I use it on a buffet to serve nuts, crackers, or my favorite, cheese straws. It can keep cocktail sticks, lemon wedges, or condiments handy as well. Line the basket with aluminum foil, a small napkin or a handkerchief to hold food when you use it as a serving dish. For receptions it holds pens, name tags, party favors, or other compact items.  I cannot say enough about this basket! The heart shape is perfect for weddings or baby events?

History:  In 1896 J.W. Longaberger began an apprenticeship with a basket company which eventually closed during the Great Depression. J.W. and his wife eventually raised enough money to purchase the closed basket factory and start a family business of their own. One of their children, Dave, opened J.W.'s Handwoven Baskets in 1973 and in 1978, the company began selling Longaberger baskets through home parties. These American baskets are made by hand in Dresden, Ohio. Once the handmade baskets are completed and inspected they are branded with the Longaberger logo and signed and dated by the maker on the bottom.

These are quality baskets made from sugar maple wood to last for years and, if cared for properly, they can be passed to later generations.

This basket is stained with the classic Longaberger stain color, but the baskets may be stained with different tones in order to compliment your decor (see Etsy for ideas).

This basket has stood the test of time and will continue to mature over time with proper care.
