I love this antique picture because it tells a story. Here is a nobel St. Bernard Dog that appears to have just saved a little girl who fell into the water. The picture shows the little girl dripping wet with a little pink flower in her hand. The same pink flower that is on a rocky outcropping behind the St. Bernard. There you can also see her hat that got caught up in the branch before she fell into the water. The dog stands in a protective pose behind the little girl. The name of this print is "THE RESCUE". I am unsure of the artist but my guess is that this print is from the 1890- early 1900's. There is a tear in the print in the upper sky area and a few holes from age. My pictures do not give this print justice due to the reflections. 

This would be a great print if you own or breed St. Bernards as it shows their noble character and their gentleness around children. I laugh now because I was petrified of the St. Bernard that lived near the school. I think because it was so BIG! Now, knowing how gentle they are I regret having those fears of such a beautiful dog. Anyway, I do love how this picture tells a story with details that are obvious but take time to deciper.
This frame measures 19" wide and 23" high. The frame is about 2" wide and has an ivory distressed finish. It has a wire hanger on the back but it is hung the wrong way. This is as I found it.
